Hogarth was born in London, the son of an unsuccessful schoolmaster and writer from Westmoreland. After apprenticeship to a goldsmith, he began to produce his own engraved designs in about 1710. He later took up oil painting, starting with small portrait groups called conversation pieces. He went on to create a series of paintings satirizing contemporary customs.
Below you will find two images that entitled Before and After.
This is series of two conversation pieces.
Assignment: look very carefully at the two images and compare them. They tell quite a story. You will have to blow up the images and switch back and forth.
On the graphic organizer, list seven changes between the two images and what they signify. This may be from a character or any image with the engravings. Again...Look very, very carefully.
Copy and paste the organizer onto a google doc; complete; share directly with me.
Send along by midnight.
Enjoy your break!
